DJ and Producer Scott Ferguson has been working the underground music scene since the 1990s, and he moved into production as ROBOT84 in the 2000s.

ROBOT84 material is played and supported by some of the music industry’s creams of the crop, such as Jon Sa Trinxa, Danny Rampling, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, DJ Harvey, Heidi Lawden, Nancy Noise, Jon Mancini, Gerd Janson, Honey Dijon, Melon Bomb, The Blessed Madonna, Artwork, HIFI Sean, Kelvin Andrews, Sean Johnston (ALFOS), DJ Alfredo, Greg Wilson, Laurent Garnier, Tom Simpson, Melvo Baptiste, Tom Finlay (Groove Armada) and Jim Stanton (Horse Meat Disco).

Tracks have also been played on BBC Radio 1 and 6 by Annie Mac, Danny Howard, Arielle Free, Nemone, Nightmares on Wax and Monki…

The R84 style and sound began a little over ten years ago, with work released on many worldwide labels ever since, but the story starts much earlier. Scott spent years DJing in the 90s and 00s. He also worked at the infamous Bomba Records and co-owned Defunkt Records in Glasgow. He’s played at clubs and parties all over Scotland with Moodymann, Josh Wink, Andrew Weatherall, Juan Atkins and Ashley Beedle, to name a few!

Music production naturally followed, and in 2012, the big hitter Pleasuredome Rework, FGTH, under the R84 guise, was released. The track made its mark with DJ Greg Wilson dropping it at Bestival and numerous summer Ibiza plays by DJ Alfredo, Ewan Pearson, Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) & Laurent Garnier.

That same year, Scott signed with Pete Gooding’s Secret Life Music. A string of label releases followed and further track signings to Nervous Records (NYC), Paper Recordings (UK), Midnight Riot (UK), Is it Balearic (UK), plus remixes with Balearic Pioneers, The Finitribe, acid house starlet Paul Rutherford and Ibiza legends Afterlife.

In 2019, ROBOT84 vs Native Dub was released on vinyl, the first in a string of well-received limited edition vinyl, exclusively via Juno Records UK.

Summer 2023 saw the digital release of his Futuro Disko EP on Seamus Haji’s ReLoved. And then, in January 2024, his very much anticipated vinyl release, ROBOT84 vs The Raff - ‘Get it Right this Time’ finally landed. The latter has very much put him on the map with overwhelming support from DJs and music-lovers across the globe.

It’s been a progressive few years for Scott’s music. But, his personal life has been pretty busy and complicated, too, as life took an unexpected twist On Boxing Day 2022 when he suffered a large Ischemic stroke while away with his family in the Canaries. 6 weeks in the hospital followed, where he had to learn to walk before eventually making it back to UK soil and his local hospital.

Every day, he works on his recovery to overcome the physical and cognitive disabilities he has been left with. But, despite the odds, his recovery is strong and is accompanied by motivation and dedication to his art like never before!

Scott’s unwavering passion for his beats and boundless positivity and determination are only validated further by the fact that he did a lot of the promotional work for his 2023 releases with the help of his wife from his hospital bed.
